Round up 🗓️

For me, August is full of birthdays (none of them mine), so it basically writes off a whole week, well, thats my excuse 😜 but it does mean I can shop guilt-free as nothing is for me, and that seems to scratch that itch (therapy can come in many forms 😁).

But I did get a little gold ingot of Snoopy, which was a limited edition by Royal Mail, some would say an investment, some, i.e. me, would say it looks cute on the desk 🤣

Now, during that time, I did manage to take a few photos and videos as well 🌟

Recent lifestyle tech shoot

Product shots don’t always have to be done in the studio; sometimes, we get to venture outside and take them in the environment they were meant to be used in.

Recently, we had the pleasure of doing a photo and video shoot for the brand PW3R, which has launched several tech products, including bags, power adapters, etc and needed some London City shots ready for the launch in Selfridges.

I even entered one of the images in my professional body, the BIPP. I got a commended, which, considering I haven’t entered a competition for years, and when I do, I usually go all out on winning, I was pretty pleased with the result.

Building fandoms, driving ROI: How YouTube is powering social advertising

📺 YouTube: The New Epicentre of Social Advertising

Authors: Ruth Ballett & Tommy Howell (YouTube marketing leads for EMEA)

YouTube has evolved far beyond its origins as a video platform, now a powerhouse cultural hub and the beating heart of social engagement, especially via Shorts and creator-driven content.

Key Highlights for Marketers:

  • Creator Trust & Fandom: YouTube’s creators foster deeply loyal, engaged communities. A striking 73% of fans turn to YouTube for fandom content—20 points higher than TikTok and Instagram, and far above the 32% social media average.
  • ROI That Speaks: Advertisers are witnessing higher returns. Kantar’s research shows YouTube ads deliver 4.3× greater purchase intent than social media platforms on average. Ipsos data also reveal consumers are 98% more likely to trust creator recommendations on YouTube compared to other social apps.
  • Authenticity Pays Off: Brands like UAE fashion label Max report that partnering with YouTube creators transforms the feel of their ads, viewers see them as genuine content rather than straightforward promotions, deepening engagement.
  • Unmatched Reach: Nearly half (47%) of YouTube Shorts users aren’t on TikTok, offering brands unique access to diverse audiences across bite‑sized and long‑form video formats.

Why It Matters for Your Brand

YouTube’s dual strength lies in trust and scale; trusted creator voices resonate, while Shorts drive reach. Tapping into fandom-driven content on YouTube isn’t just smart—it’s transformative: sparking authentic engagement, boosting trust, and turning views into conversions.

Top tips to get you ready for your business photoshoot 📸

A business photoshoot doesn’t have to be stressful; in fact, with the right preparation, it can be enjoyable and deliver images that really showcase your team and brand.

Here are a few quick wins to help your shoot run smoothly:

  • Tidy your space - Declutter desks, clear away cables and outdated posters, and polish surfaces so your workspace looks its best.
  • Brief your team - Let everyone know what’s happening, what to wear, and when they’ll be needed to avoid last-minute chaos.
  • Set a dress code - Solid colours, neat fits, and consistency across the team always look professional.
  • Plan your shots - Think ahead about must-have images and how they’ll be used (website, social, reports).
  • Create a relaxed atmosphere - Good coffee, music, and calm leadership set the tone for natural, confident photos.

With a little preparation, your photoshoot will not only run smoothly but also leave you with images that work hard for your marketing.

Need a keyboard for your iPad

I was sent an iPad keyboard so that I could review it on my YouTube channel. Considering I had bought the genuine Apple Magic Keyboard as soon as it came out, I was impressed with this one, especially given the price.

Oh, and there is a discount code in the video description on YouTube if you decide you want to get one as well.

This month's Landscape

Morning Line'

Up early for a walk over Bodenham Arboretum, and I just captured the sun coming over the brow of the hill through the trees. It was a long exposure to capture the movement in the clouds.
